Foster Care - Moroz Family

Moroz Family

Tell us about your family.

Andrew and I (Samantha) have been married since 2007 and have three children (7, 5, 2). We are an active and LOUD family who loves to spend time outdoors, go out for ice cream, and spend time with family and friends. We have been in ministry with a local church for over 10 years.

What motivated you to be foster parents?

Samantha had an interest in foster care since she first learned about it on a radio ad as a young teen. When she and Andrew started dating, she expressed her heart for foster care/adoption and he was on board!

Share a highlight of your fostering experience.

We had always wanted to foster, but never knew when the "right" time would be. Friends of ours invited us to take the training course with them through our local social services department. Once training started, we realized about half of the training course was filled with fellow friends and church members! It was evident that the Lord was calling us to foster and could not have made the timing more clear.

Tell us something about your fostering experience that you didn’t expect or anticipate happening?

No matter how much training you have or how many blog posts/books you read on foster care, nothing prepares you for the varying emotions you will feel! It really is a wild, wonderful ride.

What would you say to other families who are considering foster care?

Explore foster care agencies and take the training course(s) even if you are not sure about committing. Talk to other foster families about their experiences. Before committing to fostering, make sure you have a solid support group/community to surround you and help as it is a big transition! The phrase, "it takes a village" could not be more accurate!
